LUH Student Survey

  • Why is the University allowed to use my email address for the LUH student survey?

Address data may only be transferred and used within the University when such actions serve the fulfilment of scientific tasks and/or the tasks of the University. The second condition is fulfilled by the LUH student survey:

the information of and about students is a central pillar of quality development at Leibniz University Hannover. The administration, faculties and central facilities take the results into consideration, discuss them and derive targeted improvements as necessary.

The data gathered at the end of the survey (name and faculty) are used for no other purpose than the prize raffle. The processing of this data is carried out exclusively by employees of the ZQS, student and graduate surveys department.
All employees who have access to the personal data in the course of the project are subject to the data protection laws in force. In this regard, the transfer of address data to third parties (even within the University) is strictly forbidden and the prohibition remains valid even when the employees no longer work at the University.

The legal basis for the collection of personal data is regulated by §17 of the University Law of Lower Saxony (NHG).

  • What happens to my data from the online survey?

Your answers are stored during the survey phase on Leibniz University Hannover servers. The survey data is always sent over encrypted connections. The survey data is saved after the end of the field phase in a separate, closed server at the ZQS/quality assurance. The survey data is anonymous and is not deleted. By special request, the academic deans of the faculties can receive the survey data from the students of their faculty. This contains the survey data in anonymised form so that identifying an individual is impossible.

At the end of the survey, you will be asked if you want to take part in a prize raffle. To contact the winners and to settle payment of the incentives, we require that you enter your name, faculty and email address. These are stored in a separate form on a server belonging to Leibniz University Hannover and are deleted four weeks after the prize raffle. They are not connected to the data from the online survey.

  • Publications

The results of the LUH student survey are only ever published by the ZQS/quality assurance in aggregated form as a report, one which does not allow inferences to be made about individual persons.

  • Participation in the raffle

The registration data (surname, first name and email) submitted via the form will be used exclusively for processing your participation in the raffle for the LUH Student Survey. Your data will not be connected to the responses from the survey, nor forwarded to third parties. Participation in the raffle is not possible without the transmission of data.

Your surname, first name and email address will be saved until the end of the raffle, and then deleted within four weeks.

The legal basis for the processing of data is your consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

You may withdraw your consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. In accordance with Articles 16, 17 and 18 GDPR, you may at any time request the Centre for Quality Enhancement in Teaching and Learning (ZQS) to rectify, erase and block access to any and/or all personal data.
