Many teachers now ask themselves these or similar questions when planning and conducting their courses. Unlike in analogue face-to-face courses, it is often much more difficult to assess whether what is being said is actually reaching the audience online. Teachers repeatedly observe that although many students log in to online courses, they do not actively participate. This makes it difficult to obtain feedback and gain an impression of the current level of learning.
